We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 Radiographers to join the Radiology team at the Royal Free Hospital. This post will allow you to build on and develop your clinical skills , with the opportunity to rotate through specialist modalities.

Education and training are key elements of the department.  Full training in Interventional Radiology and CT will be given.

Main duties of the job

The Radiology Department is currently undergoing a multimillion pound project to redevelop the radiology department. Another multimillion pound redevelopment of the A&E department and A&E X-ray services, including an A&E CT scanner, has been completed. The department actively encourages continued professional development (CPD) and opportunities are available for further training and development, areas such as post graduate study, radiographer reporting and advanced practice.

There are 4 CT scanners which perform complex cardiac and vascular angiography, virtual colonography and specialised hepatobiliary imaging amongst a range of general examinations.  The Interventional Radiology and Cardiology department is comprised of 5 dedicated interventional labs. There is a comprehensive interventional service for all specialties within the trust including cardiac, renal, HPB, oncology and vascular. An Artis Zeego multi axis floor mounted angiography unit is located within theatres to provide imaging for complex endovascular cases.

  • Experience of a diverse range of radiographic techniques
  • Experience performing radiographic examinations working in both theatre and ward environments
  • Experience using PACS and RIS and an understanding of its significance for good service management and patient care
  • Experience dealing with a diverse range of patient presentations
  • Experience of performing Quality Assurance tests and management of a robust QA program

Desirable

  • Experience of specialised imaging techniques such as CT, Interventional Radiology/Cardiology or MRI

  • Ability to prioritise and organise demands for radiology services; x-ray, theatres and mobiles

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of cross sectional anatomy

  • Cannulation experience
  • IV Cannulation Certificate
