Job overview

Recovery House (RH)is a new and innovative service we are launching that meets an important need for people(18+)experiencing poor mental health.The RH will provide those in crisis with a safe, secure and welcoming environment to support the de-escalation of crisis.The House will be open to new and existing BSMHFT service users and will provide a homely environment,allowing people to retain independence, whilst receiving person centred and appropriate care.

The service will operate 24 hours,7 days a week,providing vital support to people in need of short-term biopsychosocial crisis interventions for up to 8 days.The service which is part of the Trust’s Urgent Care pathway is a partnership with Birmingham Mind and builds on the range of strong collaborations we have with the voluntary sector.

The RH will serve as a base for community integration,allowing service users to connect with local communities and provision,as well as their family/carers.

There will be a multi-disciplinary team with staff from both BSMHFT and Birmingham Mind working within the House.This will include staff from nursing,psychology,medical and other backgrounds.There will also be Peer Support Workers who have lived experience of poor mental health to help support service users.

The Recovery House will initially be opening in Saltley until an estimated date of October 2026,before it relocates to its permanent location in Erdington. Staff will be required to transfer to the permanent location once open.

Main duties of the job

The crisis transformation nurse role is a dual role rotating between the Recovery House and NHS 111.

The NHS 111 Option for Mental Health service is intended to provide urgent mental health clinical support for people of all ages with callers being able to access:

  • -       24-hour advice and support – for themselves, their child, their parent, or someone they care for.

Help to speak to a mental health professional.An assessment to help decide on the best course of care

Staff working in NHS 111 will be also provide telephone advice to MIND staff within the helpline and talking spaces
