An exciting 12-month secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Breast Reconstruction Clinical Nurse Specialist based in out-patients at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

We are seeking a nurse with post registration experience in Plastic surgery, someone that can demonstrate professional and clinical skills commensurate with the post. To include experience in wound care. We require someone that can support Plastics Consultant, and patients on multiple sites across the Trust. The successful candidate needs to be reliable, a good team player, who can demonstrate empathy with excellent interpersonal skills. A flexible and positive approach to work is essential, as is the ability to work independently with the wider MDT.

The ability to manage and deal with stressful situations is also a requirement.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of this role to include:

Implementation of care for patients undergoing breast reconstruction surgery in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Expert wound care.

To act as a role model; providing expertise, support, advice to health care professionals, patients and carers.

To assist Plastic Surgery Consultants in clinic at various locations.

Improve and maintain knowledge, competence and skill levels whilst ensuring high quality, holistic, patient centred care.

Liaise and collaborate with wider MDT.

Provide support and teaching as required.

Provide psychological support and information associated with altered body image.

Assist in planning and implementation of nurse practitioner clinics.
