Job summary

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, a flexible approach & the ability to work autonomously. They should possess excellent organisational, time management & problem-solving skills. The individual will be able to perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients who have diverse presentations & complex physical/psychological conditions. They will need good clinical reasoning & prioritisation skills to provide a high standard of physiotherapy care.

The individual should have relevant clinical experience for this post, & will need experience of working within the acute NHS in an MDT. They should provide evidence of relevant courses & training plus commitment to ongoing CPD. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own caseload within their rotation, working with regular line management. They will receive regular clinical supervision e.g formal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review & case conferences.

The individual will be supported to become involved with supervision, education & assessment of physiotherapy students on placement, and will be involved in teaching & training of therapy assistant staff. We run a comprehensive in service education programme, and band 5 staff are fully supported to complete their preceptorship. We offer a buddy system for new band 5 starters to the department.

Band 5 staff are expected to undertake on-call & emergency duty work once they have completed our comprehensive competency programme.
