Job overview

The Intensive Community Rehabilitation Team (ICRT) are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic occupational therapist who is passionate about working with individuals living with complex mental health needs in the community. We are looking for compassionate, inclusive and committed individuals who can champion the recovery approach within the service.

You will work as part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team to offer rehabilitation to people within their own homes and supported accommodations in line with their interests and goals. This work may include delivering interventions around skills for daily living, overcoming barriers to motivation and social engagement and accessing leisure and employment opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Occupational therapists in ICRT work within the framework of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), however as part of the MDT you will use lots of different assessment tools including the Dialog+ and team formulations. As well as working together within a whole team approach, you will have support from the team manager, who is an occupational therapist, as well as the opportunity to meet regularly with occupational therapists in the Steps 2 Recovery units for peer support.

The team is unique, as NHS and Birmingham MIND work in collaboration to support service users in maximising their independence and working towards recovery. There will be opportunity to develop leadership skills and as a new service, there will also be opportunities for involvement in the ongoing development of the service.
