
To take charge, as required, in the role of shift manager. To work flexibly to meet service requirements. To work within the professional codes and conduct and Trust/Directorates Policies and Procedures. To be personally responsible for maintaining professional registration with the NMC. To contribute to the maintenance of a safe environment in accordance with Health & Safety legislation. To carry out procedures in accordance with the care programme approach (if applicable) and the specialist element of SAP. To ensure that during any period of a shift, when in charge of medicines, the custody of all drugs is in accordance with the Trust policy and procedures
Ensure comprehensive nursing assessments are undertaken to identify individual patient requirements/support. Ensure that all patients / clients have a comprehensive, clear and up-to-date plan of care with specified objectives designed to meet the individual’s identified care needs. Maintain effective and appropriate levels of communication with the patient/client, their main carer and significant others. Be aware of Government and local (SHSC) guidelines/policies when dealing with patients/clients in acute distress, adopting the principles of diffusion and de-escalation where possible. Ensure that regularly updated and comprehensive risk assessment and management plans are available and accessible to all team members and encompass all areas of risk, especially with regard to harm to self and others, vulnerability and potential for absconding. Where physical intervention/restraint is required, act in line with available guidance, and approved techniques, ensuring the safety and dignity of the patient/client at all times. Liaise closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure co-operation within all areas of work. Ensure that regularly updated care plans and risk assessments are evaluated against the identified care objectives
