You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team (MDT) including nursing, psychiatry, psychology, family therapy, psychotherapy, dietetics, and occupational therapy, working collaboratively and systemically. The role offers strong peer support, clinical supervision, and opportunities for training and professional development, supported by a robust induction programme. Key responsibilities include supporting the duty service with referral triage, conducting specialist assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, and contributing to the intensive home treatment pathway. Applicants should be a qualified Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration and experience working with young people and complex mental health needs in community settings. Knowledge of eating disorders and child/adolescent mental health is essential, with experience in neurodevelopmental conditions desirable. The team is based in central Leicester and welcomes applicants reflecting the diverse communities it serves.

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing specialist assessment and intervention for children, young people, and their families within the CAMHS Eating Disorders Team. Key responsibilities include participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, contributing to case formulation, and maintaining clinical responsibility for allocated patients. The post holder will work collaboratively with families and wider professional networks, including social care and education services. You will conduct comprehensive assessments of eating disorders, alongside evaluating comorbid difficulties such as trauma-related symptoms, low mood, and anxiety. There will also be involvement in the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions where appropriate. The role includes delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and their families as part of first-line treatment for eating disorders, as well as addressing associated mental health needs. In addition, you will support the teams duty system by carrying out initial telephone triage assessments for new referrals, helping to determine appropriate care pathways and prioritisation.
