The role will provide a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are looking for further development in their finance careers. Full training and on-going support will be provided. The post-holder will assist the Deputy Head of Finance and Finance Business Partners (FBP) in providing professional advice and support in all aspects of financial management and business planning.
The post holder will be part of a team directly involved in the maintenance of the general ledger and budgetary control system and ensuring compliance with all finance policies and procedures [including the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions (SFI's)].
The post is based at Regent Court, George Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 1NU and you may be required to travel across sites.
Main duties of the job
Experience within an NHS financial management environment is desirable. The ability to work in a team, meet deadlines and have good communication skills is paramount for this role. Experience of MS Office packages and working with computerised ledger systems is also required for this role.

Essential
- Practical application of basic accounting concepts and techniques.
- Able to work well in a team.
- Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of basic accounting concepts and techniques and communicate them to others (including non-finance staff)
Desirable
- Experience in a financial role in a large and complex organisation.
- Experience of working in a busy office environment -- able to work accurately under pressure.
- Experience of working within NHS Finance
- Basic knowledge of the NHS
Qualifications
Essential
- 5 GCSE ( Grade 4 in Maths & English)
- 3 A Levels or Degree (2.2) or AAT (Level 3 ) or equivalent.
- The post holder must be willing and meet the criteria to be able to follow a course of study to complete professional CCAB equivalent accounting qualifications i.e. either ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA.

- Good communication skills -- both verbal and written
- Time management skills, ability to work on own initiative
- Computer literate -- able to design own spreadsheets/database models to provide analysis/solutions to problems
- Displays smart appearance and integrity.
- Reliable, punctual, pro-active approach. Ability to travel to fulfil the role, both between hospital sites and elsewhere, as required.
