We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and hard working dental nurse to join the Paediatric Dental Nursing Team.

There is 1 part time position available

0.4 WTE (2  days ,15 hours) Monday and Friday

Dental Nurses will be expected to work flexibly across the Dental Hospital and within our outreach sites.

• To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH) and Community Dental Services (CDS) including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required. To provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service. To carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.

Main duties of the job

• Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
• To prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre and post operative instructions as required.
• To undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments (medical devices) and arrange any necessary repairs as required.
• To ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
• To provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.
• To provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.
• To assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental service.
• To support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines.
• To support and supervise all apprentice nurses, undergraduate groups.
