Job summary

Main duties of the job

Successful candidates will be expected to work as part of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) team providing an efficient, cost effective and timely POCT service to the end users.

The post holder will maintain, operate and troubleshoot POCT devices in accordance with agreed protocols, quality standards and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities include managing stock control and liaising with manufacturers to resolve technical issues.

The role involves effective communication with clinical teams, conducting audits, monitoring internal and external quality control, and recording and escalating non-compliances.

The post holder will train users, assess competency, maintain training records and contribute to the review and updating of standard operating procedures.

Part of the role is also to support the implementation of new POCT technologies and IT connectivity, ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.

Successful candidate will be expected to support breath test clinics.

The post holder will be based at any of the hospital sites covered by University Hospitals Birmingham and will be expected to cover sites within the Community setting across Birmingham and Solihull. The post holder will be expected to travel to, and from these hospitals and institutions.

There will be a requirement to work flexibly across the sites.
