Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Pharmacy assistant with a flexible approach to work, who is committed to delivering a high-quality, patient-focused pharmacy service.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team. You will play a key role within the department, supporting and mentoring junior staff while helping to maintain high standards across the service. This is a busy and physically demanding role which requires the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines effectively.
You will also support the delivery of pharmacy services to wards and departments on a rotational basis.
Key Areas of Work:
*Dispensary - You will work as part of the main dispensary team, contributing to the delivery of a safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing service.
*Stores - Within the Stores function, you will ensure the safe, secure receipt and storage of medicines, maintaining appropriate stock levels and adhering to governance standards.
*Distribution - Working within the Distribution team, you will support effective ward-level stock management through topping-up services and timely medicine distribution.

Main duties of the job
Job Description
*To interpret and accurately dispense prescriptions and requests for medication
*To participate in stock supply to wards and departments and re-order as necessary
*To receive goods into the department, unpack, check and put away deliveries against relevant paperwork
*To participate in the induction and training of staff

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours; including weekend working, bank holidays and late nights on a rotational basis.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
*Be educated to secondary school level and hold GSCE or equivalent (Grade C/4 or above) in Math's and English.
*Hold an NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent (this must include the dispensing module).
Experience and Knowledge
* Post NVQ level 2 qualification (or equivalent) developmental experience of a range of dispensing with formal training and annual revalidated accreditation as a dispenser
* Understanding of dispensing, stock control and supply systems and processes
Skills and Ability
*Good verbal and written communication skills
*Be able to keep accurate records
*Works to protocols and procedures
