The post holder will act in the role of Radiographer helper and will assist the Consultant Radiologist in Ultrasound and Fine Needle Aspiration procedures. The post combines phosphor plate and dark room processing with clerical duties in a busy specialised Radiology Department. There is also a responsibility for the maintenance, chemical changing and Quality Assurance of the processors used for teaching undergraduate and other trainees.
Undertaking reception duties greeting patients and checking patient details on arrival and updating Radiology information system in accordance with departmental guidelines. Ensuring that all information entered into the patient administration system is up to date and accurate. Responsible for troubleshooting/problem solving for any breakdowns on the processors within the hospital. Reporting any defects of equipment. Monitoring of radiology bdh xray account and datix equipment updates. Training new members of staff within the x-ray department, organising and providing practical training for Dental Nurse student.
Receiving phone calls from patients and external hospitals answering, there will also be the need to speak to the radiography staff regarding patients and queries from the Clinics. Booking appointments for patients with suspected malignancies in accordance with the two week cancer wait target and dealing with associated queries.
Preparing rooms/bays to receive patients selecting the correct holders and imaging plates.
Standing for long periods of time when assisting or chaperoning the Radiographers x-ray during imaging procedures processing phosphor plates and re-bagging plates, labelling images correctly on SidexisPa’s, Dental Panoramic Tomograms (DPT’s) and Cephalostats are copied for Consultants, students, external hospitals, General Dental Practitioners (GDP’s) and for private patients. This involves either physically copying the films or scanning and producing a digital image. Producing identifying labels for them and labelling them as copies.
