
Job summary
To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team assisting with patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered Theatre Practitioner. Following appropriate training and assessment of competence undertake identified and delegated clinical and non-clinical duties.
The post holder will undertake the movement of patients, equipment and designated items throughout the hospital and will contribute to the maintenance of a clean and safe working environment.
The post holder will uphold the trust values and is expected to behave at all times in a way that demonstrates commitment to the delivery of thoughtful , compassionate patient care and continuous improvement of patient care quality , outcomes and experience.
Main duties of the job
*Assist with the care and treatment of patients whilst in the department promoting patient safety, comfort, privacy and dignity and confidentiality.
*Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control practice by adhering to policies and procedures and supporting the maintenance of a clean clinical environment.,
*Escort patients, visitors and staff to and from the departments and around the hospital.
*Prepare instrumentation and relevant consumables for the assigned operating list following consultation with a registered practitioner.
*Adhere to Trust policy when managing waste and soiled linen.
*Transport specimens, blood products human tissue and deceased patients.
*Frequently pushes trolleys / wheel chairs with patients on throughout the hospital and within the department.
*Exposure to patients with chronic illness and conditions and those who have experienced sudden traumatic injury or illness.
*Will participate in direct clinical care of patients who are semi -- clothed or naked who cannot maintain their own privacy and dignity.
*Will observe intimate procedures including surgical incisions and procedures and will be exposed to bodily fluids, blood and the removal of human tissue including body parts.
*Exposed to patients with life threatening conditions, will be exposed to death and dying.
