The Longfox Unit is situated in the grounds of Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare
Part Time - 30 hours per week
Working 5 days over 7 on a 2 week rota, which includes working every other Saturday and Sunday
A vacancy has arisen for a part time GHSA to join our Hotel Services Team at the Longfox Unit. The role is varied and covers cleaning, catering and portering related duties.
This job requires the ability to be able to work outside for periods of time, in all weather conditions. Some of the tasks require some physical effort.
Please note: The postholder will not be required to undertake any Service User movement.

Main duties of the job
A GHSA undertakes a wide range of duties, including:-
Cleaning - All areas of the Hospital, including deep cleans, carpet cleaning, floor scrubbing, curtain changing and laundering.
Catering - Working on Wards to reheat and serve Service Users meals and working in the central Kitchen to prepare salads, sandwiches and other catering items.
Portering - The delivery and collection of post, food, stores items, waste and other goods, to and from all areas of the Hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key Result Areas
a) Housekeeping
- General cleaning duties as required, including sanitary areas, bedrooms, communal areas and offices.
- Regeneration and service of frozen meals and associated tasks, such as washing-up, cleaning kitchens and dining rooms.
b) Catering
- To provide a Catering Service to support the Ward based Patients meal service and to prepare sandwiches, rolls, salads and snacks for Patients.
- To ensure the safe storage/handling of all food items including Cook-Freeze meals, ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and current Legislation.
- To maintain a hygienic and clean condition of the Catering Department including associated areas, equipment and utensils.
c) Portering
- To sort, pack and deliver Cook-Freeze meals, fresh and ambient goods and all associated catering items to Wards on a daily/weekly/as need basis. To ensure compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
- To deliver/collect Function Catering items to various areas of the Unit as required ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
- Collection and delivery between wards and departments of post, stores, laundry, pharmacy items, medical gases, pathological specimens and furniture and equipment.
- Post duties including the collection, sorting and delivery of all postal items.
Other Duties
- General messenger duties.
- Report maintenance faults to the Help Desk/Supervisor.
- Report all sightings of pests to the Help Desk/Supervisor.
- Ensure all information appertaining to Patients and staff is kept confidential.
- Any other duties as may reasonably be requested.
