Job summary

We are seeking Ward Caterers to cover both QE and Heartlands hospital, for Bank (zero hour) and substantive posts operating 7 days per week Monday to Sunday.

Shifts will comprise of:

10:30am - 14:30pm

15:30pm - 19:30pm

The work involves preparation, handling and serving of foods across all areas of the Catering department and associated hospital sites. The post holder will require maintaining good food hygiene standards for patients, staff and visitors to the Trust in accordance with individual sites processes.

Good housekeeping and cleaning practices are maintained to a professional standard promoting a professional image to patients and visitors promoting the Trust vision and values.

Use of industrial and light equipment and machinery is required within ward services, retail, stores and central production units.

Main duties of the job

Patient Catering (Substantive or UHB+)

*Temperatures of regenerated foods are recorded, along with chilled and frozen storage using the designated HACCP sheets

*To ensure codes of practice for HACCP and food safety are followed as per site training

*Check dates and rotation of food accordingly within working area

*Handling cleaning chemicals in accordance with COSHH and training provided

*Appropriate removal of food waste (as per site process) using designated waste and recycling streams

*Record appropriate food waste and report high levels of waste to supervisors

*Report abuse of service to Supervisors or line managers

Patient Catering (Substantive or UHB+)

*Maintain excellent personal hygiene and uniform standards as per site

*Display identification badge

*Maintain security of Trust property
