Job overview

Band 5 Audiologist

The Audiology team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) are looking for an enthusiastic audiologist to join their friendly department. As a band 5 Audiologist you will be expected to have previous clinical experience of working independently in adult audiology clinics, although this may include university clinical placements.

You will be part of a team who are supportive and keen to share learning. Development into wider clinical areas is encouraged and supported. There is a proven track record of creating opportunity for wider training, support on recognised professional programmes and academic study.

You will have a degree (or equivalent) in Audiology and have obtained, or be working towards, professional state registration.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Role

  • You will have experience in providing adult diagnostic hearing assessment and adult rehabilitation work.
  • You will have prior experience of independently providing ENT support and hearing aid repair and maintenance for service users.
  • Wider experience will be considered, for example, previous work in paediatrics
  • The service is based in Reading, and delivered across a number of Berkshire and South Oxfordshire locations. The clinician will be part of the team working across these sites to support the local community.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Motivation to develop and diversify your clinical skills in order to manage a complex caseloads and potentially support other clinics within the department (i.e. paediatrics, tinnitus).
  • There will be opportunities to push service quality and the technical knowledge forward.
  • The role will involve training and supervision of internal and external students.
  • You will have scope to be involved in audit, service evaluation and improve projects to help maintain IQIPS accreditation, which the service has held since 2014.
