We are a joint Community Children's Nursing and Psychology Service supporting children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as those who meet the Children's Continuing Care criteria. We help families through every stage of their journey, enhancing their quality of life and providing outstanding care at home and in the community.
Our team is based at Kingswood Hub and we provide services across BNSSG, with additional support offered in BANES. We care for children and young people aged 0 to 19, ensuring they and their families feel supported, valued and understood.

The role includes a mix of nights, weekends and office based working, giving you variety and opportunities to build strong relationships with the people you care for. We have full time and part time roles available. This role is suitable for Support Workers who have extensive experience with children or in the community, Nurse Associates & Assistant Practitioners.

Main duties of the job
You will work in the Continuing Care team to undertake clinical shifts usually working alongside the Lifetime support workers (LSW) in the child's home or school setting. Observe the LSW clinical competencies and undertake annual clinical assessments of their skills to enable them to undertake the clinical interventions to the children and their families who meet Continuing Care Criteria (Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and B&NES).
You will undertake the line management of a small team of LSW's which includes having 6 weekly one to one meetings, performance development reviews and supporting attendance reviews in accordance with Sirona's policies and procedures.
You will also work alongside the nursing team to develop and provide training and assessments to groups of LSWs.

Skills experience and knowledge

- Experience of working with children with complex health needs
- Experience in performing safe and effective clinical skills eg: Tracheostomy care, monitoring and recording vital observations and interpreting results, suctioning, enteral feeding
- Range of IT skills including electronic communication and clinical records systems
- Ability to work unsupervised
Desirable
- Line management experience
- Experience of working as a support worker in a community environment
