Job overview
We are seeking an Occupational Therapy Associate Practitioner to work under the supervision of a Specialist Occupational Therapist and provide interventions on the in-patient unit and in the community. The post would be suitable for a confident and enthusiastic Band 4 (or an experienced Band 3 who is ready to progress), to join the learning disability Intensive Support Team multi-disciplinary team. The team includes Nursing, Care Coordinators, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Speech and Language Therapy and Family Therapy.
The successful applicant will support the Occupational Therapist and wider team in carrying out assessments and effective interventions for a complex client group with a variety of sensory, physical, cognitive, social and environmental needs. You will be expected to work autonomously and carry out treatment plans agreed with the Occupational Therapist.
A primary aim of this role will be delivering a wide range of group activities to meet identified aims. There will be the opportunity to take part in training and regular supervision.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will support the Occupational Therapist and wider team in carrying out assessments and interventions with clients. Interventions may include daily living skills training, community skills such as shopping and social activities and engagement in meaningful activities. Our valued team members support some of the most vulnerable people in society, demonstrating professionalism, care and compassion.
Interventions will be primarily group based.
