The Surgery Care Group at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have a fantastic opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team as Associate Chief Allied Health Professional. You will work alongside the Care Group Director, Associate Chief Nurse and Associate Chief Operating Officer as part of the multi-disciplinary leadership team.

The Care Group comprises Theatres, Anaesthesia & Critical Care, General Surgery & Urology, Head & Neck and Plastics and Trauma & Orthopaedics making it a varied and exciting role. Alongside the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure that services are safe, effective, timely and are designed and delivered with patients at the centre. The Associate Chief AHP is also a member of the Trust’s senior AHP team and works closely with the Chief Allied Health Professional and will be required to deputise on occasion.

The ideal candidate will work excellently in various teams, demonstrate the upmost care and professionalism and bring energy and enthusiasm. We seek an AHP leader who can lead large teams and deliver innovation and quality improvement. The role will involve being part of the manager on call rota and will require working across all sites (candidates can choose either Scarborough or York as their base).

Main duties of the job

  • Provide visible, compassionate leadership that promotes a culture of openness, innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Lead the operational management of AHP services within the Care Group, with responsibility for workforce, financial and strategic planning.
  • Deliver the Trust’s AHP Strategy and Assurance Framework, contributing to professional development, service planning, team evaluation and workforce reviews.
  • Support the development and delivery of the Care Group strategy and wider organisational objectives.
  • Develop leadership and management capability across AHP teams.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality clinical care.
  • Lead and manage the AHP workforce to provide person-centred, risk-managed care, excellent patient experience and effective infection prevention.
  • Maintain awareness of national policy, best practice and service developments to inform local improvement.
  • Ensure resources are used effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of patients, carers and the service.
  • Contribute to local, regional and national professional and management networks.

The post holder is managerially accountable to the Care Group Director and professionally accountable to the Chief AHP.
