This is an exciting opportunity to join a relatively new team and growing service, which aims to help young people at risk of developing psychosis who are experiencing an at-risk mental state. The Therapeutic Interventions for Distressing unusual Experiences Service (TIDES) is a team working therapeutically with young people across Norfolk & Waveney.

We are seeking an assistant psychologist to join the existing team on a full time basis. Your base will be Norwich, however you would be expected to work flexibly between bases in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Kings Lynn, and home.

We are a supported team currently made up of clinical psychology, systemic family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapists, mental health practitioners, support workers and a vocational worker, all of whom are from a variety of professional backgrounds. Our team will be offering young people evidence-based interventions such as psychoeducational work, individual CBT and family therapeutic work aimed at helping our young people and their families to manage their unusual experiences. TIDES practitioners work with small manageable caseloads and hold an integrated approach to the care we provide..

Phone calls, teams calls or visits to meet the team are welcomed and encouraged.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be  working with young people between the age of 14 and 35 years who are at at risk of developing psychosis and who are experiencing an at-risk mental state.  Our focus is on early intervention and offering the right support at the right time.

The role will involve working within the community to deliver psychologically informed interventions, with a focus on short term individual work alongside some opportunities for group work.

The post holder will also be responsible for supporting the team to complete routine outcome measures, updating databases, which will support service development and contribute to the National Clinical Audit of Psychosis.

All clinical work would be under the guidance and supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist and you would receive weekly supervision from a qualified psychologist.  As a service we have close links to the clinical psychology doctoral training programme at the UEA.
