We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to work in a Community Learning Disability Service in the Harrogate & District area.

Based in Knaresborough, serving Harrogate and the beautiful surrounding rural areas and towns, you will be working within a friendly and supportive multi-disciplinary team, primarily supporting the practitioner Psychologist. The team is values lead and passionate about delivering the highest standard of care to our local people who live with a Learning Disability and an associated health need.

You will also have opportunity to work closely with other team members and in coproduction with service users and carers.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside clients, families, support workers and professionals to provide a psychological understanding of the client's needs.

You will provide a range of assessments and interventions for people with learning disabilities and their families/carers. This will include assisting in the delivery of dementia and eligibility pathways for people with learning disabilities in the locality as well as direct, indirect and group work.

Working across a variety of settings, including residential and day services and close working with the multi-disciplinary team, you will support psychological provision in the locality, for example, through the maintenance and updating of the psychology referrals database.

The post holder will support the MDT through indirect working including involvement in case discussions, team formulations and reflective practice spaces, will assist the co-ordination and running of training sessions to increase the knowledge and skills of the appropriate stakeholders and co-production of future training packages/workshops

The post holder will assist with research and evaluation of the local service and will receive regular clinical supervision from a Practitioner Psychologist.

Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
