We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 Assistant Psychologist within the Adolescent Outreach Team (AOT), a community-based CAMHS service working with young people aged 12–18 who present with increased risk of harm to themselves or others, often following a recent mental health crisis.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide psychologically informed intervention under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves jointly holding a caseload of young people, contributing to assessment, formulation, intervention, risk management and care planning, alongside wider service development and operational tasks.
The role requires the ability to build therapeutic relationships with young people who may experience difficulties with engagement, trust in services, or emotional regulation. The post holder will work closely with carers, schools and wider professional networks to support continuity of care and coordinated intervention.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The duties of the post holder will include:
- Delivering psychological interventions to young people and carers under supervision.
- Contributing to assessment, formulation, risk management and care planning.
- Liaising with schools, social care and other agencies involved in young people’s care.
- Supporting psychology provision within MDT discussions and formulation meetings.
- Contributing to audit, service evaluation, and service development initiatives.
- Contributing to the psychology discipline within the wider service, including attending appropriate meetings.
- Supporting administrative and operational tasks that facilitate timely access to care and continuity of support.

- Experience using psychometrics, outcome measures, and service evaluation data. Experience presenting information within MDTs or consultation meetings. Experience using software for databases or data analysis.

- Experience working within community CAMHS. Experience of paid work in direct care provision as an Assistant Psychologist. - 2:1 or above psychology degree. Entitlement to graduate membership of the British psychological Society
