Assistant Psychologist

Job summary

Assisting in the provision of psychologically informed and evidence-based post diagnostic support for clients of the service. Carrying out and reporting on neuropsychological assessments of cognitive function and other autism relevant assessments under supervision. Supporting data collection, audit and research projects within the team, and the provision of training on ADHD for mental health and other staff. Supporting their team, department and organisation to achieve the Trusts Values in their day-to-day work. The post holder will be required to be carry out professionally based responsibilities in the area of clinical practice, service development, work with other agencies and supporting in the applied research and service evaluation activities.

Main duties of the job

To carry out, under supervision, professionally based duties and responsibilities in the following areas: clinical practice, service development, work with other agencies, applied research and service evaluation To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register. Clinical Skills To see clients on an individual basis (or with family members) for evidence based psychological and psychoeducational input prior to diagnosis of ADHD in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, and Redbridge. To undertake psychological assessments as appropriate to include cognitive function and mood. To help facilitate groups with other qualified team members in helping with reducing admission to inpatient service. To work collaboratively with other voluntary agencies in delivering person centred approach for client. To work with informal support for clients and their families to help provide them with support and education about ADHD.
