This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled team within Children and Young People’s Mental Health Service East (CYPMH East). This is a newly formed service created by the integration of Children and Young People’s Psychological Services (CYPPS) and East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Services (ELCAS). You will take a role in the delivery of quality service provision that promotes and improves the well-being of children, young people and their families. Working within a systemic and holistic framework you will support the clinicians in undertaking needs led, evidence based assessments and therapeutic interventions with children and young people, their families and carers.
Main duties of the job

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual with a genuine interest and desire of working with this client group. You should have good verbal and written communication skills, be creative and innovative, and enjoy working in a busy clinical service. The successful applicant will be able to co-work effectively with colleagues and manage a small case load with support from case holders. You will be required to work independently with regular clinical supervision in delivering brief therapeutic interventions and undertaking school observations.
This role is mainly based at Burnley General Hospital but there are some requirements to travel to around the geographical patch of East Lancashire.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential
- Ability to undertake psychologically informed research projects.
- Knowledge of psychological methods and theories, especially child development and an ability to apply this knowledge within a clinical context.
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of children/ young people with psychological/mental health difficulties or other disabilities.
Experience
Essential
- Work with people with mental health difficulties and/or other disabilities.
- Work with children and/or young people in a caring/pastoral role.
- To have worked as part of a team within a care setting.
Qualifications
Essential
- An upper second class (2i) honours degree or higher in Psychology OR Psychology Masters Course.
- Entitlement to Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
