This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist to join the Brandon Centre! The postholder will be involved in a wide range of activities at our centre. They will be mainly based in our Counselling and Psychotherapy Service for Young People, although some of the work they will do will be centre-wide. Our AP will be support the Brandon Centre's approach to measuring, understanding and improving the impact of its services. They will contribute to internal and external performance reporting across the Counselling and Psychotherapy Service and wider psychology and psychotherapy outreach programmes.The AP will also support the delivery and evaluation of the Brandon Centre's Therapeutic Yoga offer, including participation in two evening groups per week during term time.

Main duties of the job
The Assistant Psychologist will support the Brandon Centre's approach to measuring, understanding and improving the impact of its services. Working closely with the Impact Lead, the post holder will contribute to internal and external performance reporting across the Counselling and Psychotherapy Service and wider psychology and psychotherapy outreach programmes. Responsibilities will include conducting service audits, processing and analysing outcome and feedback measures, supporting service evaluation activities, and coordinating and developing service user involvement through the Youth Ambassadors programme. The post holder will also support the delivery and evaluation of the Brandon Centre's Therapeutic Yoga offer, including participation in two evening groups per week during term time.

The principal objective of the Brandon Centre, since it was founded in 1969, is to maintain and develop an accessible and flexible professional service in response to the psychological and social problems of young people aged under 25 years to relieve distress, mobilise personal resources, and facilitate growth in adolescents towards responsibility and self-fulfilment.
The Brandon Centre's service extends to support young people presenting with a range of difficulties and is based on a psychoanalytic developmental model of adolescence.

D. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General
- To treat all clients in a sensitive, respectful and non-judgemental manner.
- To maintain confidentiality in accordance with national legislation, local requirements and Brandon Centre policies, with particular regard to work involving children and young people.
Supervision and Professional Development
- To receive regular line management and supervision from the Impact Lead.
- To assist in the induction of new staff and volunteers as required, helping them to understand relevant procedures, systems and ways of working.
- To support the development and supervision of Honorary Assistant Psychologists where appropriate, with guidance from qualified clinicians within the team.
- To proactively identify learning and development needs and participate in relevant training and professional development activities.
Service User Participation and Youth Ambassadors
- To coordinate and further develop Brandon Centre's Youth Ambassadors programme, ensuring that the voices of young people inform service delivery, evaluation and development.
- To work collaboratively with young people to co-design and deliver projects that improve services and promote youth engagement.
- To organise and facilitate youth participation activities, including feedback events, surveys, consultation groups and focus groups.
- To work with colleagues across the organisation to identify, recruit and support Youth Ambassadors.
- To provide appropriate support, guidance and signposting to Youth Ambassadors participating in Brandon Centre activities.
- To liaise with internal departments to ensure Youth Ambassadors are appropriately recognised and remunerated for their contributions.
- To support Youth Ambassadors to participate in projects such as service improvement initiatives, recruitment activities, conferences, creative engagement projects and consultation work.
Therapeutic Yoga
- To coordinate referrals and administrative processes relating to the Therapeutic Yoga programme, including screening calls where necessary.
- To support the delivery of Therapeutic Yoga groups, including participation in two evening groups per week during term time.
- To assist with the collection, analysis and reporting of outcome and feedback data relating to Therapeutic Yoga groups.
- To contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the Therapeutic Yoga offer.
Data Entry, Processing and Reporting
Use of Microsoft Excel and PatientSource (BC electronic patient record system), for the following:
Accurately recording and amending information to acceptable data quality standards using the electronic systems in place and any new systems as they are introduced.
Analysing and entering outcome measure data completed by young people.
Engaging with young people to ensure we get their feedback on the service using standardised questionnaires and inputting this information into reports.
Preparing and producing service data reports required by commissioners, the Board of Trustees and Service Leads as required.
Attending meetings and workshops relating to the collection and reporting of outcome measures on service and national levels.
Keeping up to date with current NHS guidance and requirements for the Mental Health Service Data Set.
Working with the Impact Lead and clinical leads to ensure that clinicians and other staff are adhering to monitoring and outcome requirements.
Support the Head of Business Development and Partnerships with providing data for bids and tenders.
Clinical
- To participate in clinical meetings, reflective practice and peer supervision activities as required.
- To use appropriate communication and engagement skills to support young people in completing outcome measures and providing service feedback.
- To work within professional, ethical and organisational boundaries at all times.
Administration
- To provide administrative support to the Centre and Referrals Coordinator and other colleagues as required.
- To support the management of shared inboxes, correspondence, meeting administration and minute-taking when required.
- To maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Other Duties
- To contribute to new projects, service developments, quality improvement activities and organisational initiatives as agreed with the Line Manager.
- To work flexibly in response to changing organisational priorities and service needs.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with data, outcome measures or service evaluation in a health, mental health, education, voluntary sector or related setting.
- Good knowledge and understanding of outcome measures and why we use them.
- Working knowledge of safeguarding children and young people.
- Experience of working in a busy, public-facing service.
- Experience of working with young people.
Desirable
- Experience in engaging young people or service users in participation work.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Prior experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist / Research Assistant (in a paid or honorary capacity).
- Interest and knowledge in community psychology principles of co-construction and youth participation.
- Experience in delivering focus or discussion groups.
- Experience of direct individual work with young people or adults.
- Experience of the management and/or facilitation of group interventions
Qualifications
Essential
- BA or BSc 2:1 or 1st class honours, or equivalent, in psychology or a related field of study; or an MSc/PGDip in Psychology, including a psychology conversion course, with merit or distinction.
- Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Desirable
- Master's degree (MSc / MRes /MPhil) with merit or distinction or equivalent.
