Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Psychologist to join our team on the Working Age Adult inpatient wards, supporting individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs.

In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care. All clinical duties—including psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions—are carried out under the direct clinical oversight and supervision of a qualified psychologist, who retains overall responsibility for your caseload.

Main duties of the job

  • Clinical Assessments & Formulations: Conduct formal psychological assessments and develop tailored formulations to help guide each patient's care plan.
  • Intervention Delivery: Facilitate both individual and group-based evidence-informed psychological interventions designed to support therapeutic progress and recovery.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise closely with nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and wider ward staff to contribute a psychological perspective to care planning and ward culture.
  • Clinical Supervision & Governance: Engage actively in regular clinical supervision provided by a qualified psychologist, ensuring all practice adheres to professional standards and safety guidelines.
  • Patient Care & Wellbeing: Promote a compassionate, trauma-informed environment that enhances the overall mental health, dignity, and wellbeing of inpatients throughout their admission.
