Thank you for viewing our post for this Band 4 Assistant Psychologist in Neuropsychology. We are thrilled to share this opportunity to join our friendly, cohesive and hard-working neuropsychology team.
Our service is dedicated to providing a high-quality service to those living in Lincolnshire who have suffered acquired brain injuries and/or neurological conditions, such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, etc. We work with those living in the community and provide input onto the local inpatient neurorehabilitation ward.
We accept referrals and work collaboratively with a range of disciplines, including rehabilitation medicine, neurology, mental health services and other allied health professionals. Our service offers holistic neuropsychological assessment, formulation, rehabilitation, consultation and/or advice.
We are looking for someone to join us who is enthusiastic and reliable, with a keen eye for attention to detail, and is proactive but also receptive to supervision. This post is a great way to start to learn about neuropsychology and develop your clinical knowledge and skills. We are particularly interested in those with a like-minded interest in neuropsychology. For added insight, one of our assistant neuropsychologists has published a reflective piece in the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology East Midlands Branch around her learning and experiences of working in our community team (in June 2023).
Main duties of the job
To complete general administrative duties, including answering phone calls and recording these appropriately, maintaining test materials, processing new referrals and discharges, collecting and inputting service data and arranging appointments.
To work alongside qualified clinicians to conduct neuropsychological assessments and formulations and to share information with patients, carers and multi-professional colleagues; to provide some limited rehabilitation therapy to clients referred to the service.

Essential
- Able to demonstrate a keen interest in neuropsychology, that goes beyond specific modules studied at Undergraduate level.
- Ability to work safely, confidently and independently within own experience/skill and to seek advice from senior colleagues as appropriate.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- High level of computer literacy (Power Point, Excel, SPSS etc.)
- Ability to deal sensitively with highly emotive/hostile situations.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and judgemental skills
- The ability to develop good working relationships with clients, and colleagues, including ability to adapt communication style if barriers to understanding and/or expression are present
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Proven communication skills (written and verbal) and a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of people
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently whilst accepting supervision and feedback on practice.
- Ability to concentrate frequently and for extended periods.

Qualifications

- Undergraduate degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) and a strong academic record
- Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

- Ability to travel independently throughout the county without the use of public transport
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently whilst accepting supervision and feedback on practice.
