An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Traumatic Stress Service (LSCTSS).
Based in Chorley, the service provides a specialist assessment and treatment for individuals who experience a significant range of distressing symptoms following an event(s) which they have found to be traumatic.
A key part of this role is working with clients who are on the treatment waiting list and to provide them with the psychological skills to help manage and alleviate their distress. These structured preparatory interventions are delivered either online or face-face.

The post holder is required to have a psychology degree with graduate basis for registration with the BPS (British Psychological Society) OR a qualification as a MHWP or PWP
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work in a defined area of health and social care. This may be acute healthcare, mental health and / or community mental health.
The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and of different ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Knowledge
Essential
- Demonstrates an understanding of lifespan psychology applied to health care.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the needs & difficulties of people with psychological / mental health difficulties or other disabilities.
Desirable
- Experience of working within a secondary care service, specifically delivering low intensity psychological interventions to service users experiencing trauma-related difficulties.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the clinical practice of psychological interventions.
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working with people who experience difficulties with mental health and / or physical health.
- To have worked as part of a team in a clinical setting.
- Experience of conducting research projects of service related audit.
Desirable
- Experience of delivering training.
- Experience of group work.
Education / Qualifications
Essential
- A minimum of a second-class honours degree or higher in psychology.
- Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Evidence of completing training in delivering psychological interventions. OR
- OR Successful completion of psychological practitioner training e.g. Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP) or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP).
- Registered as a MHWP or PWP on a professional register recognised for this role by NHS England.
Desirable
- Additional training and experience in delivering psychological interventions to individuals experiencing significant functional difficulties as a result of complex trauma experiences.
