We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The successful applicant will work as part of the community IPC team where the role offers a varied workload, including visiting long term care facilities and other community based settings, supporting audit activities, assisting with the delivery of training programmes, monitoring IPC practices, giving specialist advice during outbreaks of infection and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
You will have the opportunity to build strong working relationships and influence infection prevention and control practices across a range of services.
We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, a proactive approach to problem solving and a genuine commitment to promoting patient safety & continuous improvement. Previous experience in healthcare and an understanding of IPC principles are essential alongside the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
As this post is community based, there will be an expectation for the post holder to travel across the CTM boundary as part of the working day as directed by the needs of the service.

Visit a range of community settings and primary care services to improve infection prevention and control practices and reduce healthcare associated infections
To participate in infection prevention and control audit activities e.g., Environmental and hand hygiene audits, reporting findings to the Infection Prevention and Control Nurse.
To undertake surveillance activities as directed by the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses, including basic data collection to support surveillance programmes (demographics, device utilization etc)
Arrange, support and participate in the delivery of training/education sessions
Organise and prioritise workload with direction and supervision of the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses.
Provide Infection Prevention and Control posters and other materials to community settings
Use of IT packages and systems to store IPC data
Assist in other duties relevant to role and competency

This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
