Job summary
Are you passionate about promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people, and survivors of domestic abuse? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant practitioner to work in Nottingham Citys Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).
The post will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to work within a multi-agency team in partnership with a range of agencies from across the safeguarding partnership, such as the Police and Childrens Services, whilst also being a part of the wider CityCare Safeguarding Team. You will undertake a number of key functions within the MASH, sharing relevant health information to help ensure that children and young people in Nottingham City receive the right help at the right time.
This is a 22.5 hour permanent (3 days a week).
Working pattern: Monday Friday 9-5.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant MASH Practitioner will be responsible supporting the delivery of CityCares key functions within the MASH including:
To have day to day responsibility for the MASH inbox working autonomously (support from the wider team will be readily available) to prioritise work and support the Safeguarding Team.
To summarise relevant health information from SystmOne and ensure accurate and up to date recording on SystmOne is maintained as per CityCares record keeping policy.
To provide partner agencies within MASH, with a summary of health information to assist in the assessment of risk within the remit of the Caldicott principles, following the MASH Information Sharing Agreement.
To provide a summary of health information for the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) and support where appropriate.
To communicate with a broad range of internal and external staff, agencies and stakeholders.
To escalate concerns when necessary to the MASH Professional Lead, MASH Practitioner and/or the wider Safeguarding Team, CityCare clinicians and the Named Nurse/Head of Safeguarding.
To have excellent organisational and IT skills.
Receive incoming and initiate outgoing Teams calls to facilitate timely and appropriate communication.
Maintain information in a way that is secure and in line with confidentiality, the MASH ISA, and Data Protection Policies & Procedures (manual and electronic)

Job purpose
- MASH (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub) Assistant Practitioner will support the safe and effective service delivery of the MASH and MARAC (Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference) to ensure CityCare delivers a safe and effective response for safeguarding children within the Nottingham City. This post will be predominantly dealing with children and families; however, the team instil a think family approach and therefore will also include safeguarding adults. The post holder will collect, share and analyse data as part of a multi-agency response.

- Nottingham City Boundaries including different CityCare bases, community settings, and Health and Childrens centres.
- Maintain own mandatory and relevant training in line with the requirements of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- To prioritise and meet tight timescales in relation to the MASH protocols
- To have day to day responsibility for the MASH inbox working autonomously (support from the wider team will be readily available) to prioritise work and support the Safeguarding Team.

Experience
Essential
- Ability to understand and interpret health information from patient records.
- Experience of record keeping
- Evidence of working with vulnerable children and vulnerable adults
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and managing own workload in a multidisciplinary team setting.
- Ability to work unsupervised in a multi-agency team.
- Experience of utilising analytical and assessment skills
- Experience of working with people who have been affected by domestic abuse.
Desirable
- Experience of working autonomously.
Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to Foundation degree or equivalent in a Health or Social Care related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- NVQ level 3, RSA 3, City & Guilds certification or equivalent level of knowledge.
Desirable
- Evidence of further professional development.
- RSA/OCR Level II Word Processing
Knowledge & skills
Essential
- Understanding of confidentiality/information sharing and Caldicott Principles
- Proven organisational skills
- Experience of managing own workload in a team setting.

- Understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on all individuals including children and families.
