An exciting opportunity has arisen with NELFT Estates Directorate for the appointment of an Assistant Director Capital Programme. The Trust has an exiting portfolio of capital construction investment schemes and refurbishment projects. The post holder shall report to the Director of Estates, working in a dynamic environment.

The post holder shall be a Chartered Engineer (with membership of an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution) or a Chartered Surveyor RICS (construction or quantity surveying practice). You will have an excellent knowledge of NEC construction contract forms and NHS Health Technical Memoranda & Health Building Notes. Also with demonstratable portfolio of managing multi-million-pound complex construction projects. Your knowledge shall extend into sound project management of construction project practice, risk management and a robust track record in the governance of construction project procurement and project execution.

We are looking for a chartered construction professional who can work to tight deadlines and deliver construction contracts on time and budget. The post holder shall have strong leadership skills and be able to gain the confidence of peer professionals in other disciplines such as medicine & nursing.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will achieve the role by:

  • Effective leadership, management and co-ordination of all capital programmes to support the Trust to deliver the Estates Strategy and be responsible for the delivery of all capital programmes within the Trust.  The estate’s capital function has a crucial contribution to make to NELFT.  It demands a dedicated, professional and highly effective level of leadership and commitment from its officer.
  • This post will be a senior member of the Estates Management Team. The role will have responsibility for the monitoring and delivery of the Trust Estates Strategy and capital planning.
  • The post will also deputise as required for the Director of Estates and support external and strategic collaborations within the Integrated care systems where the Trust provides services.
  • The role will include the presentation of highly complex and detailed reports to the Trust, Executive Management Team, board sub-committees and Estates led meetings.
  • The post will provide progress against the Trust Estates strategy and development of the Estates Annual plan.
