The Trust provides an onsite Day Nursery, which is mainly used by the staff; however the service is also available to the general public.
The Charing Cross Day Nursery offers places to children from the ages of 6 months to 5 year olds.
Crucial to our success is the role of our Childcare Practitioners, providing high quality childcare, caring for children who attend the Nursery. Purpose of the role.
The Trust is strongly committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its staff, patients and children. Due to the role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure and also a range of other recruitment checks.
As an Assistant Childcare Practitioner, you will be required to work shift patterns between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. Total working hours per week will be 37.5 per week.

Main duties of the job
Working in a nursery involves being part of a team and caring for babies and children up to the age of five.
- To provide a high standard of Physical, Emotional, Social and Intellectual care for children placed in the setting.
- To give support to the Childcare Practitoner within the setting
- To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn.
- To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met.
- The Assistant Childcare Practitioners duties will be to provide safe, temporary supervision and care of young children.
- Providing a safe and stimulating environment for the children doing a variety of creative activities, taking them out on trips and generally making sure they are having fun whilst they are learning.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of contributing to daily planning in a nursery setting.
- Experience in working with children aged 6 months to 5 Years.
- Previous Nursery Experience
Education/ qualifications
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 or above Childcare qualification
- Good standard of English and Maths (equivalent to Adult Basic Skills Literacy Level 2, Numeracy Level 1)
Desirable
- First Aid
- Previous experience of caring for, or working with children in a voluntary or paid capacity
Skill's/knowledge/ abilities
Essential
- Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Understanding of Safeguarding procedures
Desirable
- An interest in child development
