We are looking for an Assessment and Engagement worker to join our well-established Drug and Alcohol Services team. This is a key role in delivering structured treatment and recovery support for individuals affected by substance misuse.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs,
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, risk management plans, and recovery plans.
  • Deliver structured psychosocial interventions (PSI) and facilitate group work.
  • Conduct regular care planning and reviews in line with national guidance.
  • Work closely with multi-agency partners to provide holistic support.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and risk escalation where required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in substance misuse services or related health/social care settings.
  • Strong understanding of recovery-focused approaches and harm reduction.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work collaboratively with partners.
  • Knowledge of national guidance and clinical governance requirements.

To provide a dedicated comprehensive support to people with drug use problems their families and friends within the organisational framework of STaRS (Staffordshire Trent and Recovery System). Provision of drug & alcohol treatment to Service Users within the locality.

You will be responsible for holding a caseload of service users and being responsible for offering a range of interventions to those individuals. Supporting service users through their treatment journey from beginning to end. Ensuring that your work is evidence based, up to date and in accordance with current policy and legislation. Keeping up to date and accurate records and documentation.

To work within the service users and multi-agency team members in an essential liaison role to draw in local community assets to support the delivery of Recovery focussed outcomes, promoting and creating opportunities in visible recovery, harm reduction and brief interventions in the hub reception areas.

Facilitating psychosocial intervention group work programmes.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Considerable experience of working with drug and alcohol users.
  • A sound experience of working with techniques such as CBT, Motivational interviewing, and Solution focused therapy

Qualifications

Essential

  • Foundation Degree / HNC in related field which may include counselling, social work, nursing, psychology, human resources, social studies, or equivalent experience

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.
