We have an opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Aseptic Technician to join our busy Pharmacy Sterile Production Unit. Do you have some experience of working in a sterile production unit either within the NHS or Commercial Sector and wish to broaden your experience, skills and knowledge then we have may have just the job for you!

We are looking for an Aseptic Pharmacy Technician (GPhC registered) or Science Manufacturing Technician (SMT qualified) to join our team of Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers and Pharmacists to provide essential services for our patients to ensure they have the best treatment and outcome during their stay.

Pharmacy Aseptic Services provides a range of sterile medicinal products including Chemotherapy, Total Parenteral Nutrition, Clinical Trial medication and other sterile medicinal products.

Band/salary is dependent on holding an Accuracy Checking Accreditation, this will be discussed at interview stage.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake all aspects of sterile production, including making the products, assembly of raw materials and sterile components.
  • Generate appropriate documentation including worksheets and labels.
  • Maintain appropriate environmental monitoring records.
  • Supervision and In-Process checking of products in the Clean Room.
  • Undertake Pre-Process checking upon successful Accuracy Checking Accreditation.
  • Assist Technical Staff with day-to-day organisation of workload.
  • Assisting with specialist cleaning of the Clean Room facilities and equipment.
  • Assist with stock management and ordering of materials and other administrative tasks.

Essential

  • Good presentation skills
  • Good written communication
  • Regularly communicates with key groups / stakeholders: Pharmacy staff Multidisciplinary Team / Cross sector Patients Carers General Public Pharmaceutical Industry (may be barriers to understanding)

Desirable

  • Experience of report writing.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Basic computer literacy (word, excel, outlook).
  • Up to date knowledge of GMP and Quality Management Systems
  • Pharmacy computerised systems.

Desirable

  • Appraisal knowledge.
  • NVQ assessor
  • Project management knowledge.

Experience

Essential

  • Aseptic experience in Hospital or Commercial sectors.
  • Current post Band 4 or above.
  • Good team player and sensitive to the need to optimise team performance.

  • Substantial hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Evidence of teaching, training and supervision.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science OR CGLI/Apothecaries Hall pre-1985 certificates.
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhc) OR Science Manufacturing Technician –SMT Apprenticeship (Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Aseptic Pharmaceuticals Processing
  • Registered Science Technician -RSsciTech

Desirable

  • Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance experience
  • Leeds Aseptic Dispensing Course or Equivalent
