This is an exciting time to join our Arts Psychotherapies service in Tower Hamlets as we continue to develop and strengthen our community provision. Located within one of London’s most diverse boroughs, our services work closely with local communities to provide accessible, inclusive and culturally responsive care.
We are seeking two motivated Band 6 Arts Psychotherapists (Art, Music, Drama or Dance Movement) to work with adults with complex mental health needs in community services. The roles involve delivering individual and group interventions, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and contributing to ongoing service development and improving access to Arts Psychotherapies.

These are two part-time posts (18.75 hours each): both include Wednesday morning working. Post 1 will work Monday–Tuesday and Wednesday morning; Post 2 will work Thursday -Friday and Wednesday morning.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide Arts Therapy assessment and intervention (individual and group) for adults with a range of complex mental health needs within community services. This includes managing a caseload, planning and delivering interventions, and evaluating outcomes in collaboration with service users and the multidisciplinary team.
You will work as an integrated member of the MDT, contributing to care planning, risk assessment and clinical reviews, and maintaining clear and accurate clinical documentation. You will adapt your approach to meet the diverse cultural and clinical needs of the local population.
The role also includes contributing to service development, quality improvement and strengthening links with local organisations to support accessible, inclusive and community-focused Arts Therapies provision.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Please see attached Job Description The postholder will provide a specialist Arts Therapies service within Tower Hamlets community mental health services, including assessment and delivery of individual and group interventions for adults with complex mental health needs. They will manage a defined caseload, working under the supervision of a senior Arts Therapist, and contribute to recovery-focused care planning and review.
The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical discussions, risk assessment and care coordination, and communicating complex clinical information in a clear and sensitive way to service users, carers and professionals. Accurate and timely clinical record-keeping is essential.
The postholder will be expected to adapt their practice to meet the cultural and clinical needs of a diverse population, promoting inclusive and anti-discriminatory practice in line with Trust values. They will contribute to developing and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for service users.
The role also includes contributing to service development, quality improvement, audit and evaluation activities, and building links with local organisations to improve access and engagement with Arts Therapies.
The postholder will maintain professional registration, engage in supervision and continuing professional development, and work in accordance with Trust policies, governance and safeguarding requirements.

- Experience of working as part of an MDT
- • Experience of providing individual and group arts therapy in an adult MH inpatient setting
Qualifications
Essential
- Masters Degree in Arts Therapies (Art, Music, Drama, Dance Movement)
- Degree in relevant area
- Registration with HCPC
- Membership of professional body
Desirable
- Experience working with adults inpatient services
- Experience of working as an Arts Therapist in the NHS
Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Developed interpersonal skills enabling therapeutic relationships to be developed and maintained with clients who have complex needs
- Ability to apply specialist skills in individual and group based assessments and interventions.
- Ability to work both independently and a part of a MDT team
- Ability to assess and manage frequent distressing clinical interactions with client’s who have complex mental health problems
