We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Art Psychotherapist to join our Psychological Therapies Service within the Adult Mental Health Community Directorate in Bromley. This is a part-time position (2.5 days) based at Carlton Parade, Orpington.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within the ADAPT and Intensive Case Management for Psychosis (ICMP) teams, providing specialist Art Psychotherapy to adults and young adults experiencing complex and enduring mental health difficulties. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality assessments, individual and group Art Psychotherapy interventions, and contributing to multidisciplinary care planning and service development.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication, assessment and formulation skills, experience of working with complex mental health presentations, and a strong commitment to collaborative, recovery-focused care.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist Art Psychotherapy interventions to adults and young adults referred to the ADAPT and ICMP Psychological Therapies teams. This will include undertaking specialist assessments, developing psychological formulations, and delivering both individual and group Art Psychotherapy interventions tailored to service users' needs.

You will work closely with clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support treatment planning and evaluation.

The role involves managing a complex caseload of service users presenting with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, including personality disorders, trauma-related difficulties and psychosis. You will contribute specialist psychodynamic and arts-based perspectives to multidisciplinary discussions and support the delivery of psychologically informed care.

You will also contribute to service development, clinical audit, research and evaluation activities, provide clinical supervision to colleagues and trainees where appropriate, and promote awareness and understanding of Art Psychotherapy across the Trust.

The post holder will be supported through regular professional and clinical supervision, multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing continuing professional development opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Provide specialist Art Psychotherapy assessments and interventions for adults and young adults referred to the ADAPT and ICMP Psychological Therapies teams.
• Deliver individual and group Art Psychotherapy programmes, including facilitating a Young Adults Art Therapy Group.
• Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans for service users with complex mental health needs.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing specialist psychological, psychodynamic and arts-based perspectives to care planning and risk management.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and prepare reports in accordance with Trust, HCPC and GDPR standards.
• Provide specialist advice, consultation and clinical supervision to colleagues, students and trainees as appropriate.
• Participate in service evaluation, audit, quality improvement and research activities.
• Contribute to the development and promotion of Art Psychotherapy services within the Trust.
• Maintain professional registration, continuing professional development and compliance with HCPC standards.
