An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual who is interested in a career as a Diagnostic Radiographer to train via an Apprenticeship.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated person to join our team at Dorset County Hospital as an Apprentice Radiographer. This is a recently established role which will involve you working alongside a multidisciplinary team whilst you train to become a Radiographer.
The successful candidate will be enrolled on the University of Exeter Apprenticeship Radiographer Degree Programme, due to commence in March 2027. This is an exciting training opportunity to become a full HCPC registered Diagnostic Radiographer (subject to course completion and HCPC registration).
Candidates must have the prerequisite qualifications as documented in the personal specification and by the University of Exeter.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to complete work-based, online and self-directed learning as outlined in the university prospectus. Attendance at Exeter University will also be part of the training. Apprenticeship radiographers will be supported in department by our workplace mentors and the whole radiography team.

Education
Essential
- GCSE Grade C/4 and above in English and Mathematics or Functional skills level 2. Evidence of level 3 Study (Minimum of 112 UCAS points) or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- 1 years’ experience working in a healthcare setting
Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of ability to communicate with all levels of staff and members of the public
- Evidence of relevant national standards, e.g. IR(ME)R 2017, IRR'17 and associated codes of practice
- Safeguarding understanding of the principles and process
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Evidence of ability to work under pressure; good timekeeping
- Evidence of ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a team
- An understanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained
Desirable
- Evidence of basic computer skills
- Understanding of the role of a Radiographer
