Main duties of the job
As the Antimicrobial Stewardship Lead Pharmacist, you will provide expert clinical leadership and oversight for the antimicrobial stewardship agenda. You will work closely with primary and secondary multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and evidence‑based medicines use of antimicrobials across the Wirral.
Key Responsibilities
The post holder will act as a professional and clinical leader in the area of AMS across the Wirral health economy to deliver improvements in the utilisation of antimicrobials. They will work in partnership with Clinical Leads, Microbiologists, Public Health Experts, Managers and Pharmacy Leads to continually improve the medicines optimisation for patients requiring antimicrobial therapy.
The post holder will need to work with others to develop a strategy to support the AMS agenda and reduction in AMR across Wirral in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders that fosters a culture for quality improvement and continuous learning.

- Excellent written communication skills
- Good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyse datasets and produce reports and dashboards
Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training
Essential
- Vocational Masters Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Extensive post registration experience within the NHS including recent senior service leadership role within NHS pharmacy practice
- Management and/or leadership qualification or relevant experiential learning within the NHS in a senior position within pharmacy.
- Significant experience in project management including leading on major change projects
- Evidence of post-qualification continuing professional development
Desirable
- Independent Prescribing qualification
- Experience working in primary care setting and/or community pharmacy at a senior level
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Postgraduate studies in antimicrobials
- Project management qualification
