Job summary

Burlington Primary Care is looking for an experienced advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) or advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) to join our team in a role that combines two things we genuinely need: advanced clinical capacity and nursing leadership. This permanent role is offered on either a full-time or a part-time basis. This is a hybrid post: a proportion of your time will be dedicated to leading our nursing and HCA team, contributing to service development, and helping shape how nursing is delivered at Burlington. The remainder will be clinical, providing advanced assessment and management of acute and undifferentiated presentations alongside our GP partners. The balance between the two is negotiable and will be shaped around the right candidate. For the right person, this is not a compromise, it is an opportunity to work at the full breadth of your capability: seeing complex patients, building and developing a team, and helping to drive the kind of innovation and prevention-focused care we are committed to.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and undifferentiated presentations independently
  • Support the management of long-term conditions and complex multi-morbidity
  • Prescribe independently within your scope of practice
  • Contribute to delivery of enhanced and preventative care services
  • Champion lifestyle medicine and behaviour change approaches within your clinical work
  • Participate in group consultation models and support their further development
  • Provide day-to-day clinical leadership and support to the nursing and HCA team
  • Lead on workforce development including induction, appraisal, and mentoring
  • Oversee long-term condition management across the nursing team
  • Develop and implement nursing protocols, care pathways, and service improvements
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, national guidance, and practice policies
  • Represent nursing at practice leadership level alongside the GP partners and practice manager
  • Contribute to PCN objectives and wider collaborative working

About us

We have been serving the Ipswich community for over 50 years, and we have built something worth being part of. A practice with roots in the community, a team that knows its patients, and a culture that takes both clinical excellence and staff wellbeing seriously. We are CQC-rated Good. We are forward-thinking without being chaotic. We are committed to innovation without losing the personal touch that makes general practice what it is. Our GP partners bring clinical expertise across palliative care, diabetes, care of the elderly, women's health, and lifestyle medicine. We believe prevention is as important as treatment, and we are actively building services that reflect that. We run group consultations as part of how we deliver care and are keen to expand this further with the right people around us. Our multidisciplinary team includes nurses, HCAs, a paramedic, pharmacists, a pharmacy technician, a GP assistant, and long-term condition care coordinators, a team that is growing and that needs strong clinical leadership to thrive. We are based at 14 Burlington Road, Ipswich, town centre, well connected, with on-site parking for staff.
