We are seeking a motivated Anaesthetic Practitioner (Nurse/ODP) to become a vital part of team.   Our primary goal is to deliver the highest standard of perioperative care, ensuring excellent patient outcomes and satisfaction.

We have two Band 6 posts within RMCH/MRI MR Research Scan for experienced paediatric anaesthetic practitioners.  These posts are part time consisting of 18.75hrs each, with fixed days every Wednesday and Friday's.

You will be working alongside paediatric anaesthetists to deliver care in the Oncology clinic based in RMCH ward 84 Day Case every Wednesday and the Research MR scan located in nuclear medicine, MRI every Friday

On days where there are no allocated patients in either area you will be allocated to work in paediatric theatres at RMCH.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit hard working, caring individuals to work alongside our busy clinical team in RMCH.  As a Band 6 ODP/Anaesthetic nurse, you will be working in 2 different areas of MFT.  These include, MR Research Scan located in Nuclear Medicine at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Oncology Clinic located on Ward 84 Day Case Department at RMCH.

You will be working closely with the research team from UoM and paediatric anaesthetists as well as the Oncology team to deliver patient care.  You will be working in satellite/isolated areas with support from your colleague and the RMCH anaesthetic team.

You will be required to ensure all consumables are available in each area and stock rotation is completed at the end of each day.

Advocate for the patient throughout their journey, ensuring their dignity and well-being are maintained.

Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, communicating clearly with anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

As part of our commitment to safeguarding patients and staff, many roles at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone.

What is a DBS Check?

A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:

Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.

Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the children’s and/or adults’ barred lists.

Who Needs a DBS Check

Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.

The Costs for a DBS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment.   If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

DBS Update Service
