Job overview

We are seeking  a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with excellent planning and organisational skills to assist and support the work of the Trust’s AHP Workforce and Education Development Team.

This AHP Learning Excellence Fellow role will offer the opportunity to facilitate a project focusing on further enhancing and optimising  AHP learner experience,  alongside contributing to other key areas of work to support AHP workforce and education development.

This part-time role  will allow the successful postholder to develop project management skills, stakeholder engagement skills and delivery of project outputs over a fixed-term / seconded period, to be completed by end of March 2027 due to funding stipulations.

The role will be based at University Hospital, Lewisham but with requirements to work across sites, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich and in the community, when appropriate.

The successful post-holder will  be a registered AHP who is keen to develop their knowledge by working collaboratively with AHPs, AHP support workers and pre-registration learners across a range of Allied Health professions.

Working within a supportive team, they will be provided with regular supervision to continue their own learning and development.

Main duties of the job

The expectation of the postholder is to facilitate a short-term, sustainable project which will develop, manage and implement  initiatives to enhance the learning environment for AHP learners, both pre-registration and post-registration. The postholder will review current provision against the Safe Learning Environment Charter, AHP Educator Framework and other relevant guidance.

The postholder will:

• Be responsible for designated areas within work-streams and work to develop the projects within the AHP Workforce and Education Development Programme with support and guidance from the department leads.
• Undertake a gap analysis of current provision
• Deliver regular reports / updates on project progress against specified objectives
• Provide practical support in terms of project management and documentation to teams to develop relevant initiatives
• Employ a range of communication  skills  to impart complex information to a range of stakeholder (internal and external)
• Deploy communication strategies appropriate to the level and complexity of change within projects
• Ensure current theory and best practice is built into change management approaches
• Deliver relevant training in collaboration with team colleagues

This is a new role and would be of interest to an AHP who is organised, flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of different AHP services, and can communicate professionally and effectively with a range of stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This job role requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, with excellent planning and organisational skills to assist and support the work of Trust’s AHP Workforce and Education Development Team, by providing comprehensive development of a Safer Learning Environment for all AHPs, utilising direction and guidance from the national ‘Safer Learning Environment Charter’ - SLEC framework. There will be a specific focus on the pre-registration learning environment, but naturally there will be cross over into other areas of building an inclusive, welcoming and empowering learning environment so that all colleagues can continue providing exceptional patient care.

The post holder will be required to develop, manage and implement initiatives from the Safer Learning Environment framework set out by NHS England and other guidance documents. There will be a mix of areas to deliver on around ensuring learning provision excellence, including scoping current demands, mapping against set standards and principles, performing a gap analysis and influencing positive practice to ensure all learners, with a particular focus on those undertaking pre-registration programmes, receive an optimal experience. This will include upskilling educators in line with the national educator framework, raising awareness of the SLEC through producing and disseminating appropriate marketing materials to build tangible outputs, to ensure a network of Safer Learning Environment Practitioners are established and to improve the governance around student learning while always working in close partnership with colleagues across the Trust.

The role will involve effective project management, including project plans, development of reports and business cases and support the AHP Workforce and Education Lead and AHP Practice Development Lead with other key areas of work related to developing AHPs at LGT.

The post-holder will also be asked to assist with specific tasks within the rest of the AHP Workforce and Education development programme and working group meetings.

The post-holder will:
