The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to take on an Advanced Practitioner role within the Medical / Respiratory service. The post holder will be based at University Hospital Hairmyres and provide professional and clinical support to colleagues and services across Lanarkshire.

We are seeking a dynamic, forward‑thinking clinician with a focus on quality service delivery and a service improvement approach. This advanced practice role is integral to shaping and delivering the medical / respiratory priorities across Lanarkshire. You will also provide advanced clinical leadership to Respiratory Out‑patients and Pulmonary Rehabilitation services, supporting evidence‑based practice and the development of innovative care pathways.

The post holder will also fulfil a clinical and leadership role within the Medical Physiotherapy services. The Medical Physiotherapy team provide inpatient rehabilitation to a range of specialties, including respiratory, cardiology, gastroenterology, medical high dependency and general medical. The team also have clinical responsibility within Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation and Respiratory Out-patients

Participation in the physiotherapy on‑call rota is essential and the potential to work 5/7 in the future may be required

In this key role, you will:

  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the own professional activities.
  • To assess capacity gain valid consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent.
  • To be responsible for and manage a caseload of patients with highly complex presentations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Registered Physiotherapist with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
