Job summary
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy services are evolving and the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner service has an exciting opportunity to join the Trust on a fixed term contract until 31st March and be at the forefront of expert clinical practice and the transformation of Musculoskeletal pathways across beautiful Worcestershire.
You can expect, and support, personal and professional development through in-service training program, with strong established links between service partners in primary, secondary and tertiary care. The Trust provides a structure offering career mobility, coaching and/or mentoring. There is great potential for career growth, learning new skills and being involved with exciting clinical and service developments.
The service provides a single point of access for Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Orthopaedic referrals across Worcestershire. As an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist, you will undertake specialist triage of referrals received from GPs, First Contact Practitioners (FCPs) and Physiotherapists, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate pathway and receive timely access to care.
This is a full time role - part time hours will be considered.
Applicants must read the attached guidance notes before submitting your application for full understanding of Trust requirements.
Main duties of the job
You will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care using advanced clinical reasoning, specialist assessment skills and evidence-based practice. Working autonomously, you will manage a complex caseload of patients with musculoskeletal conditions, providing advanced assessment, requesting and interpreting diagnostics, undertaking peripheral joint injections (injection qualification essential), and making onward referrals to specialist services, including secondary care where appropriate.
You will be allocated dedicated Specific Professional Activity (SPA) time to support service improvement, professional development and leadership activities. You will play a key role in the ongoing development of both the APP service and wider MSK Physiotherapy team, helping to shape future service delivery and improve patient outcomes.
You will contribute to the education and development of the workforce through teaching, supervision and mentorship of clinicians and students. Opportunities will also be available to participate in audit, quality improvement, service evaluation and research activity.
As part of our innovative and forward-thinking MSK service, you will work across the four pillars of advanced practice: clinical practice, leadership and management, education, and research. You will support the continued development of MSK services across the wider health and care system, helping to deliver high-quality care closer to home and improve access to advanced musculoskeletal pathways.
