We are looking to extend our service and an opportunity has become available for 2.5 equivalent Advanced Practice Physiotherapists (APP) to join our team. We have 1 Full time post in the Spinal MSK service, 1 Full time post in the Peripheral service and an additional 0.5 Part time post in the Peripheral MSK service.
The role involves assessing and treating patients with spinal and/or peripheral conditions and you will work with other APP’s in managing both First Contact Primary Care and Specialist Secondary Care services. The APP team, established in 1991, are supported by an MDT including General Practitioners, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons, Consultants in Sport and Exercise Medicine, Orthopaedic Physicians and a Pain Management Service.
To act as the clinical lead in Peripheral and/or Spinal Musculoskeletal assessment and treatment for Physiotherapy Services, and to work with, promote and actively develop the service in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary Team and Head of Therapy Services.
Main duties of the job
Provide autonomous advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with peripheral/spinal pain working in an Advanced Practice role with the authority to order further investigations such as blood tests and x-rays.
Act as a source of expertise on the management of peripheral/spinal pathology to Primary Health Care professionals, Consultants, Senior Physiotherapists, and other Health Care Professionals.
Act as a clinical lead in co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating the Musculoskeletal Service together with the Head of Therapy Services and multidisciplinary team in line with the Trust Business Plan and the needs of service users.

Experience
Essential
- Significant senior clinical experience in MSK outpatients across primary and secondary care
- Experience of working clinically as an autonomous MSK APP and within an MDT
- Research and Audit experience
- Understanding of NHS working
Desirable
- Knowledge of MSK management/prescribing frameworks
- Knowledge of service performance metrics
- Experience of report writing/ EPR systems
Qualifications
Essential
- Degree/ diploma Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Significant experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist
- Masters level study or equivalent APP learning
- Training/ competance in advanced MSK assessment
Desirable
- Relevent advanced MSK qualification
- Independent prescribing qualification
- US guided injection competance
