The Role

  • Autonomous advanced practitioner, undertaking advanced assessment, diagnostics and highly specialist treatment to ensure a high standard of clinical intervention.
  • Professionally accountable for the clinical leadership, supervision and practice education of Occupational Therapy staff and students working within the clinical specialty.
  • Lead the development and delivery of occupational therapy services across the clinical specialty, care group or NHSL wide service.
  • Applies evidence informed practice through clinical audit, research and service improvement applicable to the specialist area of work.

In this key role, you will:

  • Responsible for Occupational Therapy triage, assessment and rehabilitation for a highly specialist caseload
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and modify highly specialist treatment interventions to meet complex individual patient needs to optimise occupational performance
  • Assess capacity to engage in Occupational Therapy. Gain informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients.
  • Communicate highly sensitive diagnostic and prognostic information to patients, relatives, carers, OT staff, members of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies.

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to Masters degree in Occupational Therapy or relevant specialty, or evidence of working towards Master level qualification
  • Evidence of working at Level 7 Advanced Practitioner of the NMAHP Development Framework
  • A range of postgraduate education and short specialist courses relevant to the specialty.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
