The follow up to this, is provided by our Virtual Ward. Patients are kept at home with regular nursing contact & medical oversight 7 days a week. This is a Consultant-led service with opportunities to join ward rounds & MDTs for learning & service-provision. We also host a Urgent Treatment Centre & Community Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU). The post holder may rotate through these services as well depending on skill & service requirement. The UTC sees a range of medical problems covering all age groups, self-presenting to the unit. The CATU provides short-stay, ward-based medical and nursing care, with therapy assessments. The role will be varied and challenging but well-supported with our existing GPs. There is time and scope for leadership, personal development and project opportunities. The role will can have an element of bespoke creation, while supporting us to deliver safe provision of medical cover to our patients across these services. This role will suit an experienced ACP, comfortable with working independently.

Main duties of the job

History-taking, examination, requesting investigations and creating an appropriate safe medical management plan for patients presenting to the services above. Request and interpret investigations such as blood tests and x-rays. Prescribe appropriate medications to support the patient's care.
