We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and compassionate clinician to join our team working as a TACP/ ACP in our forensic low secure inpatient services based at the Redwoods Hospital in Shrewsbury.
We are seeking applications from registered professionals (registered nurse adult/ mental health, paramedic) who are already working or aspiring to working as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. You will have completed the advanced health assessment and non-medical prescribing qualification and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with in a mental health environment.
In the role you be working with service users with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. You will be part of a Multidisciplinary team providing care to service users on Willow ward (Low secure male mental health rehabilitation ward). You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior clinical leads and other ACP’s in the development of Advanced clinical practice across the service and in the delivery of high standards of safe and quality care.
The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner, utilising advanced knowledge, skills and expertise in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of a range of physical health and mental health conditions.

Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master’s level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will therefore be required to embody the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. This will include the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.
Advanced nurse practitioners are highly experienced and educated members of the care team who can diagnose and treat conditions and refer onwards to appropriate specialists if needed.

In summary, these are the things that you will have:
Hold an appropriate Masters level award with appropriate modules in Advanced Health Assessment and in Non-Medical Prescribing
Take responsibility for own learning and development by recognising and taking advantage of all opportunities to learn, in line with core professional competencies of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner, including full participation in appraisal and supervision, and acting as role model for self-development
Provide autonomous clinical assessment and treatment, demonstrating clinical expertise at an advanced level, in both physical and mental health/LD for patients within the forensic mental health/LD setting.
you are applying as a TACP starting salary will be Band 7 until qualifying then Band 8a.
