Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our dedicated haematology nursing team working on both sites. You will need to be a confident, flexible and registered practitioner to help develop and support our Haematology specialist nursing service.

We are looking for a person with specialist haematology clinical knowledge and skills, a person that can demonstrate a proven track record of working across all haematology pathways.

The role will include working across both sites, working clinically to support patients on SACT and have a managerial responsibility within the nursing teams.

You must have proven experience of working across the four pillars of advanced practice and are expected to have successfully completed the MSC Advance Clinical Practitioner programme and be a non-medical prescriber.

This role requires  Professional registration with relevant professional body Registration.

Base Locations: Cross site at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital

  • To provide high-quality person-centred care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity using advances clinical knowledge that is evidence based.
  • To plan and manage complete episodes of care. To undertake comprehensive assessment and make complex clinical decisions.
  • To provide expert clinical advice and leadership.
  • To be a leader of change to continually support improving standards. To participate in clinical audit, research, education and working strategically to plan and develop stroke services we provide.
  • To work across all haematology pathways.
  • To be innovative at delivering models of care that reduce hospital stay and prevents readmissions.

Person specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrable theoretical and practical knowledge of Haematology conditions and their commonpresentations

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of hospital systems

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working independently at a Band 7 Clinical role within Haematology.
  • Participation in research and experience of critical appraisal of the evidence base to inform practice
  • Application of advanced clinical skills into practice, with Haematology
  • Demonstrable theoretical and practical knowledge of Haematological common presentations

Desirable

  • Publication/Conference experience. Able to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team within Haematology
  • Demonstrable leadership and nursing experience at senior level in Haematology.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional registration with relevant professional body
  • Recognised teaching or mentoring qualification
  • Masters level Advanced Clinical Practice/Equivalent Masters
  • Non-medical independent and supplementary prescriber

Desirable

  • Recognition as Advanced Practitioner by the National Centre for Advancing Practice

Technical skills

Essential

  • Advanced clinical skills, such as assessing patient’s physical status requiring precision, accuracy, dexterity.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information from patient assessment and interventions, such as chest x rays, ECGs and freedom to act in managing patients ‘care.
  • To be competent to deal calmly and professionally with patients, relatives and work colleagues in a confidential and sensitive manner

Desirable

  • Proven Leadership ability
