Job summary

Ambrose Avenue is looking to recruit an advanced nurse practitioner to join our multi-disciplinary team, to help us to transform and modernise pathways of care, enabling the safe and effective sharing of skills across traditional professional boundaries. This position is offered on a full time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate may come from a range of professional backgrounds. As an experienced healthcare professional, educated to masters level, you will have developed the skills and knowledge to allow you to take on an expanded role and scope of practice caring for patients.

This post is for an experienced nurse prescriber acting within their professional boundaries, who will provide a first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, using skills in history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making to establish a diagnosis management plan.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will:

  • demonstrate a high level of expertise within the specialist service providing advice, education and support to staff, patients, their families and carers.
  • be practising autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care. This will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within an agreed scope of practice throughout the directorate.
  • support new ways of working that emphasises a more efficient and patient-focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in their area.
  • have responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
