Job overview

We are a countywide service, offering multidisciplinary support and psychological therapies to women experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties resulting from their perinatal experiences. This post would involve providing assessment and highly specialist CBT interventions to both antenatal and postnatal clients of the main perinatal team, as well as those of our integrated Perinatal Loss and Trauma team.

You will be joining a supportive multi-disciplinary team made up of Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Nursery Nurses, Health Visitors, a Midwife and Peer Support Workers.  Staff wellbeing, trauma informed practice, and evidence-based care pathways are important principles that guide how the Perinatal Service works.

This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. We are committed to supporting our dedicated staff, so only current employees of the following organisations can apply:

  • Cornwall Foundation Trust
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board

If you do not currently work for one of these NHS organisations, your application will not be considered at this time.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a professionally autonomous, high quality, evidence-based assessment and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy service to women on the perinatal service caseload
  • To provide highly specialist advice and consultation regarding formulations and treatment to colleagues and external agencies as required.
  • To take full or part responsibility for supervision of trainee therapists up to Masters degree level.
  • To contribute to the CPD training of other Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust professionals (such as SHOs, Senior Registrars, Trainee Psychologists) as agreed with the manager.
  • To provide supervision to clinicians with Partnership Services as agreed.
  • To develop, implement and audit CBT services for the perinatal service and to propose, initiate and move forward wider developments in the perinatal Service.
  • To foster and maintain productive links with the other perinatal mental health teams and other service providers and agencies with whom the post liaises.

This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county including areas that may not be accessible by public transportation. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate how they will manage these travel requirements.
